How I Got Clean And Sober: Our Story
My friend and I have been sober for over 30 years, we work on this site and social media together. Our story, his story first, recovery has been the biggest challenge and most rewarding years of my life. I never thought I would be able to achieve my goal of sobriety, but with the help of my friends and family, I was able to do it. The biggest challenge I see in new people getting help nowadays is the amount of shame and guilt hindering their chances of actually reaching out.

The Day I Decided to Get Clean
I had been struggling with addiction for years before I decided to get clean. I had tried different treatments, but nothing seemed to work. I was at my wit’s end. I was so tired of being sick and tired of being in pain. I was tired of being addicted to something that was making me miserable.
One day, I decided to try treatment again. This time, I was willing to do whatever it took to get better. I went to rehab and got clean. It was hard work and I came close to giving up the fight, but it was worth it. Now, I’m sober and happy. Don’t get me wrong I still have struggles with learning healthy ways of dealing with obstacles, but it does get easier.
The Steps I Took to Get Clean
I started to get clean and sober by researching different programs and finding one that fit my needs. I decided to go with Recovery because it was the most comprehensive program and it had a great support system. I was nervous about starting the program, but I was really glad that I did. The first step was to create a personal action plan, which outlined what I needed to do to get clean and sober. I also attended weekly meetings, where I could talk to other recovering addicts and get support. The support system was really important for me because it helped me stay motivated.
The Challenges I Face Today
I’m still working on my sobriety, but I have made a lot of progress. There are still challenges that I face every day, but I’m determined to overcome them. One of the biggest challenges is staying motivated. Sometimes it can be hard to stay on track when things get tough, but I know that I can do it if I keep working hard. I strongly urge anyone to keep trying no matter how hopeless they may feel.

The Benefits of Sobriety
The benefits of sobriety can be summed up in one word: freedom. When you’re sober, you can focus on your recovery and well-being and not have to worry about the consequences of your actions. You can also enjoy life more fully because you’re not burdened by addiction.
When I was addicted to alcohol, I was enslaved by my addiction. I was completely consumed by it, and nothing else mattered. Now that I’m sober, I can enjoy my life without having to worry about alcohol. I can go out with my friends, take vacations, and do whatever I want without having to worry about how drinking will affect my life. I’m finally able to be myself, and that’s something special to me.
Sobriety has been the best decision I have ever made. I am happy and healthy and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here. One day hopefully you can help someone get clean and sober.
